MBA Liaison, Chairperson
Marilyn is owner & President of Eleford & Company, Inc. established in 1956, and has represented major mortgage banking companies across the country as their New York office. In recent years she has been working closely with local and national developers to structure equity & debt for acquisition of land & real estate for development of office buildings, shopping centers, multi-family, condo conversions, working with institutional lenders and pension funds.
Throughout her career in Mortgage Banking she has been active in the MBA of NY, serving on various committees, chairmanships, and on the Board of Governors. She moved through the chairs to become President of the Mortgage Bankers Association of New York in 1982 as the first female to lead that organization. During that year she initiated and organized the first Multi-Family Seminar between the NY and NJ MBA's, leading to a cooperation between the two organizations which exists today and has extended beyond that to include other States.
Brown serves as chairperson, moderator and speaker at various MBA Conferences and Seminars and continues to be an active and integral part of the Northeast Regional Conference of Mortgage Bankers Association. She is the MBA of New York's Liaison with the National MBA, as well as with other professional and trade associations. The next generation of real estate professionals also receives the benefits of her energy and participation as Trustee and Vice Chairman of the MBA of New York Scholarship Foundation. As such she works closely with New York University Real Estate Institute and Chairs an annual Symposium focusing on development in the Metropolitan area. The Foundation awards scholarships on a need basis to New York University, Columbia, Baruch, Pace, New School, CUNY, Long Island University, and The Mechanic's Institute.
